CUMC members believe that children are our strength; that through their growth and understanding of the world we are not only preparing our community for the future, but are also laying the groundwork to extend God’s house here on Earth.
Because of this we offer several children’s programs. Some of these are specific to regular attendees of the church, while others are open for the community.
We provide a Parent/Infant Room located in the “Cry Room” (Pastor Deatrich’s office) off of Frank Hall.
It is equipped with an audio feed of the worship services. – Ushers are available to direct you.
We are committed protecting the children placed in our care on Sundays and at all church events. For this reason, our volunteers have their clearances.
Nursery is provided for infants and toddlers in the “Cry Room” during our Sunday morning worship services.
Acolytes are dedicated youth volunteers who assist the clergy in performing symbolic duties during religious services. The significance of their duties is to remind the Congregation that Christ is present to us and that the power of the Holy Spirit is available to all worshipers.
Acolytes usually start while in 2nd or 3rd grade and need to be able to take their responsibilities seriously. They are trained by an Acolyte Leader, an adult responsible for training and mentoring Acolytes. This Acolyte leader, along with the Pastor, will train new Acolytes in a no pressure program. There is no time frame to complete this training and Acolytes will only begin serving in their duties once they feel comfortable.
If your child is interested in becoming an Acolyte, please contact the Church Office at UMCChrist@gmail.com.

Weekday Childcare Center
In 1988, visionary leaders recognized the need for Christian childcare in our community and Christ United Methodist Church prayerfully embarked on this vital extension of its Christian ministry. Since opening its doors in 1990, Noah’s Ark has provided loving Christ-centered care and educational experiences to more than 2,000 children.
In honor of over two decades of service and with a renewed commitment for the future, members of Christ Church and the wider community of Waynesboro are invited to support the Center’s continuing work through the Noah’s Ark Endowment Fund. As this fund grows, over time it will enhance the work of the Center and provide a budgetary cushion to offset unexpected shortfalls. There is a beautiful ark, painted by Barb Wilson, which is on display in Noah’s Ark. It is our mission to fill that ark with animals. Each animal that is added to the picture will represent a donation to the Annual Fund. There are a variety of giving opportunities to honor those who are important in your lives and to remember those whose memory is important to you. Please consider a tax deductible gift to Noah’s Ark’s Endowment Fund.
