Susannah Wesley, mother of Methodism’s founders, John and Charles Wesley, was a pastor’s wife and a mother to 19 children! She was able to care for, feed and raise her family from a cupboard of a very small size. Christ Church has a modest food pantry and the supplies are free to needy persons and families.
Susannah’s Pantry is located at the Church (Second Street entrance), on the corner of Second and Church Streets
Using Susannah’s Pantry:
Our Food Pantry is open to all Waynesboro area residents who are in need of food. Anyone who wishes may come to the pantry and fill two grocery bags with the food that is stocked in the Pantry that their family would use. To assist as many families as possible, we do have a limit: two (2) grocery bags per visit and one visit per household per month.
Please contact the church office at 717-762-7011 before coming to make sure that there is someone in the office to assist you.
People come to Christ Church seeking immediate food help each week. We found that we can best help them by providing canned and dry foods that can easily be stored and kept in Susannah’s Pantry – all items are provided by the generosity of our members & friends. It is amazing to see how God touches people to fill the pantry and amazing to see how many this little cupboard helps!
Donations of non-perishable food items are gladly accepted. Some of the most requested food items: Spaghetti Noodle and Sauce, Macaroni and Cheese, Canned Meats (Tuna, Ham/Spam, Chicken), Canned Fruits, Peanut Butter and Jelly, Soups, Crackers, Meals in a can (beef stew, pastas, etc) Cereal, Canned Milk (no refrigeration required).
Occasionally, we have request for personal care items (shampoo, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, razors, toilet paper, etc) – donations of personal care items are appreciated.
Donations can be dropped of at the church on Sundays or during the week (If during the week, please contact the church office at 717-762-7011 before coming to make sure that there is someone in the office to unlock the door for you.)
PLEASE do not donate out of date, rusty, badly dented or opened products. They cannot be distributed. If a food product is not appropriate to serve to your family, it is not appropriate to serve to a needy family.
Our focus is non-perishable food items and personal products. We do not have the capacity to store and distribute other items.
