One of the earliest things that defined Christian care for others was in caring for the deceased. Our pastors regularly meet with bereaved families and conduct funeral and memorial services to help individuals and families find comfort, compassion and hope in the midst of grief and pain.
Pastors Cook and Deatrich may be contacted by families or by funeral directors to plan services and to do after care for families. Christ Church will always offer space and compassion in such times.
Pastoral Counseling and Crisis Care
We offer a limited range of counseling services free of charge. We do not offer long-term therapy, but we are trained in pastoral counseling. Sessions can be arranged by calling the church office and requesting the services of one of the pastors. We limit our counseling to crisis care and short-term sessions.
To offer to the Christ Church congregation and to anyone who asks, our loving, faithful prayer support for any need that is emailed on the chain or called into our prayer chain. It is a rare and precious privilege to come to the throne of God and intercede for others. We come close to God’s heart and He offers His grace which enables us to make intercession for others as we pray and then email or pick up the phone to call on our requests and praises.
Susannah Wesley, mother of Methodism’s founders, John and Charles Wesley, was a pastor’s wife and a mother to 19 children! She was able to care for, feed and raise her family from a cupboard of a very small size. Christ Church has a modest food pantry and the supplies are free to needy persons and families.
